Start of your respective hotel and departure from Cusco at 04:30 – 05:00 a.m. On the bus ride through small villages and communities like Limatambo izcuchaca and after three hours we will arrive at the small town of Mollepata where breakfast (not included) and you can buy some last-minute items. From here, our private transport to Challacancha for approximately 1 hour, then start with the walk. To get the best views in the upper part of the valley to appreciate the best views in the upper part of the valley of limatambo and the native’s native peoples and other snow-capped mountains in the Andes. After a brief introduction of our staff, the walk is through the vegetation and a narrow path between the dark hills, much of the path is flat and flat at the edge of the water channel to soraypampa. In the light of day is the awake to take a nutritious breakfast and then start the trek to the top of the route (7 km). After climbing for 2.5 to 3 hours on a winding road we will arrive at a moraine glacier where we can appreciate Vizcachas (chinchilla andina) and a very small lake. After 3 hours we will finally reach the pass that is the highest point of the trip (4,600 meters / 13,451 feet). Here you will find yourself in the middle of two great mountains – Salkantay (6,271 masl) and Humantay (5,850 masl). Salkantay is the second highest mountain in the Cusco region and in the pass the mountain itself is very close to you. From here you can also see the Pumasillo mountain (5,850 meters above sea level) in front of you, a mountain that can be seen from a different angle when you are in Machu Picchu. Descend to Huayracmachay (or Huayrapampa) or Andenes, approximately 2.5 to 3 hours from the pass, where we will have lunch.
From here, the Apus Peru groups deviate from the standard Salkantay trek, as we try to get our customers off the busiest roads. We will climb for about an hour to Unuyoc, this is not a wide road and in the rainy season it is wet and slippery. From the highest point, with the views of the Santa Teresa Valley, we will descend to the camp in Unuyoc. You will probably be the only people in the camp. This is a very nice place to camp, with wonderful landscapes. Lodging: Camp at Unuyoc 2,850 masl (8-hour hike at an altitude of 4,600 meters / 13,451 feet).

This day will be unique and unforgettable, because we will see during the walk a great variety of flora and fauna starting from chaullay going through the collcapampa community and continuing and descending for one more hour to the high jungle (known as “the eyebrow of the jungle “), enjoying the landscapes that offer us a lot of natural beauty. We will cross the river and while we walk to the left side of the river “Alto Salkantay” towards the “eyebrow of the jungle” we can see orchids, bromeliads, typical vegetation of the area and also different types of birds, insects and butterflies. In comparison with the previous day of the trek, this is an easy walk since we descend slowly for 3 hours to La Playa (2,050 masl).
We will arrive at the town of Machupicchu, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel with comfortable private rooms, hot shower, cable TV and wifi around 19 hrs approx. We will have dinner and the last preparations for the most important day of the tour of the visit to the sacred city of the Incas MACHUPICCHU.

Early in the morning (before sunrise) we will take a bus to the ruins of Machu Picchu (bus $ 15.00) so you can appreciate this famous city with the light of dawn and before the crowds arrive. Then you will have a 2.5 hour guided tour to Machu Picchu with your guide. After your tour you can explore the ruins on your own or climb the Huayna Picchu for that classic photograph of Machu Picchu. (You need to specify if you would like to climb the Huayna Picchu at the time of your reservation, it costs an additional $ 10). Also try to make space for a visit to the Temple of the Moon or Huayna Picchu when visiting Huayna Picchu.

If you cannot make Huayna Picchu, other options are:

Mountain Machu Picchu.

We highly recommend walking from Machu Picchu to observe the vegetation and also the audacity of its builders. It is a 1.5 hour walk back to the town of Aguas Calientes. We return to Cusco in the afternoon in the backpacker train (leaves at 02:30 p.m. or at 06:00 p.m.) and in Ollantaytambo a driver will wait for you and transfer you directly back to your hotel. You will arrive in Cusco approximately 4 hours after the departure of your Aguas Calientes train.
